07/06/06 The Local Festival
The local festival, on the last Thursday in August, has its origins in a wager made in the city in 1897. One Monday in July of such year, two tile makers, el Rayo and the hereu Maynou, competed with each other to see who could make the most tiles in one hour, half of the town supported one tile maker and half the other. This story was the basis for the creation of the “Blue” and “White” teams that have become a major feature of this local summer festival.
07/06/06 The Ascension Day Trade Fair
The Ascension Day Trade Fair is a multi-sector event which exhibits state of the art developments in industry, services, the automobile sector, agriculture and cattle breeding. Having moved around from site to site for a number of years, the fair was finally set up in the Fair Park in 2001. A number of cultural events are arranged to coincide with the occasion.
